Jackfruit Buns

Now it's jackfruit season and we are trying delicious and variety recipes with jackfruit. Have you ever tried buns out of ripe jackfruit. It's really yummy, soft , spongy and healthy that everyone will love especially our kids. You can also use wheat flour or a combination of wheat and all purpose flour instead of flour I used here.
  1. Jackfruit(ripe): 10-15(cloves)
  2. All purpose flour: 1&1/2 cup
  3. Curd: 1/2 cup
  4. Sugar: 3/4 cup
  5. Baking soda: 1/2 tsp
  6. Fennel seeds: 1 tsp( optional)
  7. Salt: 1 tsp
  8. Ghee: 2 TBS
  9. Oil: for deep frying
  • Firstly grind or mash the jackfruit cloves.
  • Now add in curd, sugar, baking soda, fennel seeds,salt and 1 tbs ghee.
  • Combine everything well.
  • Now slowly add in all purpose flour and combine without any lump.
  • Add more flour if required as it may vary with the size of jackfruit cloves.
  • Add  remaining 1 tbs ghee and combine well.
  • Close the lid of the bowl and let it rest for 6-8 hours.
  • Now convert the dough to medium balls and roll into puris with rolling pin by dusting little flour or by using  a chapati press.
  • Add the rolled dough ball into hot oil and cook till it puff up and turns slightly golden in both sides in medium low flame.
  • Take out from oil and drain excess oil.
  • Repeat the steps with remaining dough balls.
Yummy , soft and spongy Jackfruit buns is ready, serve hot with a cup of tea.
