Mutton Ghee Roast

Ghee roasts are yummy preparations chicken, mutton , prawns or something in ghee for a wonderful flavor. Here comes a simple but most delicious recipe with mutton: 'Mutton Ghee roast'. Its one of the best choice with chapathi, poratta, roti and so on. Give a try and enjoy eating with loved ones.

  1. Mutton: 1 kg
  2. Onion:3
  3. Tomato: 2
  4. Ginger-garlic paste: 1 tbs + 1 tsp( for marination)
  5. Red chilly powder: 1&1/2 tsp +1 tbs( for marination)
  6. Turmeric powder: 1/2 tsp+ 1/2 tsp(for marination)
  7. Coriander powder: 1 tsp
  8. Garam masala powder: 1/2 tsp
  9. Meat masala powder 1/4 tsp
  10. Cloves: 2 
  11. Bay leaf: 2
  12. Cardamom: 2
  13. Cinnamon: 1/2 inch
  14. Dry red chilly: 2
  15. Cumin seeds: 1/2 tsp
  16. Coriander leaves: 2-3 tbs
  17. Curry leaves: 2 stings
  18. Butter: 4 tbs
  19. Salt: to taste
  • Marinate mutton pieces with 1 tbs chilly powder, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste, and salt and keep aside for 20-30 minutes.
  • Pressure cook it along with cardamom, cloves and cinnamon,by adding little water for 20- 30 minutes or till it gets cooked.
  • Heat a pan with ghee, saute cumin seeds, dry red chilly,bay leaves and curry leaves for 45-60 seconds.
  • Now add ginger-garlic paste and saute for 1 minute or till its raw smell escapes.
  • Add chopped onion and saute till it turns soft and translucent.
  • Next we are going to add tomato pieces and cook till it mashes well.
  • Add in all masala powders such as chilly powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, meat masala powder along with salt( take care as we have added little while cooking mutton).
  • Saute for 2-3 minutes or till its raw smell escapes.
  • Now add in cooked mutton along with its gravy, fold well and cook till the gravy thickens and dries up its water in medium low flame by stirring in interwals.
  • Kasuri methi and chopped coriander leaves are added, give a mix.
  • Cook for 1-2 minutes and remove from flame.
Yummy and lovely Mutton Ghee roast is ready. Serve hot with chappathi or roti.
